Looking for a summer 2027 internship or a 2027–28 placement

Yanis Makhoukhi

Computer Science student at the University of Dundee, expecting to graduate in 2028 / 2029 with Placement. Java is my strongest language, and I'm currently working on projects including a 2D platformer in Unity.

Same seed, same level. This is a browser demo of the rough idea behind the map generator in my Unity game. The seed is saved in the page address, so you can share a level.

About

I'm studying Computer Science at the University of Dundee. Right now I'm building a procedural platformer in Unity and a word game in Flutter, and I've written a multithreaded ATM simulation and a secure network client along the way.

Java is the language I know best. I've also used C#, C and C++, Python, JavaScript, SQL and HTML/CSS in my studies. I'm looking for a software engineering internship or placement where I can contribute to a team, learn from experienced developers and keep getting better at debugging and design.

Projects

  • ATM simulator

    Individual coursework, built with Java

A multithreaded ATM simulation in which several terminals use one shared bank account. It demonstrates race conditions and uses synchronized to coordinate access to the shared data.

  • RPN calculator

    Individual coursework, built with Java

A Reverse Polish Notation calculator built on my own linked-list stack. It evaluates comma-separated expressions and handles malformed input and division by zero.

  • Network security client

    In progress

    Group coursework, built with Python

A Python client that handles TCP socket communication, parses HTTP Digest authentication challenges and generates the digest responses automatically with MD5 or SHA-256.

  • Mobile word game

    In progress

Individual coursework, built with Dart and Flutter

A cross-platform mobile word game made with Flutter and Dart. The user interface and game logic are still under development.

Education

  1. 2026–2028 / 2029 with Placement

    University of Dundee

BSc (Hons) Computer Science. Expected graduation: 2028 / 2029 with Placement.

  2. 2025–2026

    International College Dundee

International Stage 2 in Computer Science. Completed the preparatory pathway for progression to the University of Dundee degree programme.

Teamwork

University group projects at International College Dundee and the University of Dundee, 2025–2026.

  • Keeping the group on track I coordinated task allocation based on my teammates' strengths and engagement, and monitored progress to help keep group assignments on schedule.
  • Debugging together I worked on the technical implementation and debugging, and identified an HTTP/HTTPS protocol mismatch that was causing integration failures while we tested our group network security project.
  • Clear communication I clarified assignment requirements, consulted the lecturer when necessary, and shared the confirmed guidance with teammates.
